DECEMBER 2016 MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT

Outside our schools, the weather is turning colder day by day.  But, inside our schools we find rehearsals for this month’s winter music and choral concerts are happily underway.  These much-anticipated performances are always well-attended and beautifully memorable.  Please mark your calendars to be on hand as our students demonstrate their musical abilities in heartwarming ways (be sure to check your child’s school website page to confirm the date and time for these special events.)

The New Jersey Department of Education recently released information on PARCC assessments, “The spring 2016 PARCC results show promise as students’ scores improved across the assessments and grade levels, indicating more students are on track to being college and career ready.  Data indicates that thousands more students took the assessments, providing more representative data of overall student performance.  Educators are seeing value in the assessment by using PARCC data to align instruction to the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.”  For more information on district-specific PARCC data, please access the assessment presentation link on the district website.

As we come to the end of 2016 and look forward to the New Year, we remind Parents/Guardians to continue to reach out to their child’s teachers to ensure school experiences are meeting expectations.  Regardless of a student’s grade level, questions are sure to arise and it’s important to reach out to the best source for the correct answer.  Teachers and administrators are only one phone call or email away, so please do not hesitate to contact us at any time.

On behalf of all in our district, lease accept my best wishes for a happy and healthy winter break!

Sincerely,

Marie C. Cirasella

Marie C. Cirasella, Ed.D.
