NOVEMBER 2017 MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT

This month is an active one in our district; here’s a look ahead at a few highlights:

ConferencesElementary Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held at Godwin & Highland Schools this month.  Research indicates that parent/family involvement is a critical factor in student success and our teachers look forward to this annual collaborative opportunity with parents.  For more information on making the most of this valuable meeting with your child’s teacher, access this link from the National Education Association (NEA) website:  http://www.nea.org/home/60103.htm

  Drama masks
A hallmark of the fall season is MPHS’s annual drama production.  This year, our talented scholar-thespians will appear in It’s A Wonderful Life, a production of the beloved American holiday classic brought to life as a live 1940’s radio broadcast.  With an ensemble case that brings many familiar characters to the stage, the story of idealistic George Bailey and his fateful Christmas Eve is a truly heartwarming tale.  Performances are Friday, November 17th (closed caption) and Saturday, November 18th at 7 pm, and Sunday, November 19th at noon in the beautiful Memorial Hall at MPHS.  For advanced tickets, please email Jwhelpley@mppanthers.org with the number of tickets desired and specify the performance.  Tickets will also be sold during lunch periods in MPHS and at the door.  Ticket prices are $10 per adult and $5 for students/children.

Awards
The MPHS Marching Band took third place honors at the culminating band competition in Syracuse…congratulations to Mr. Marks, his team, and our amazing student musicians!  We’re also entering the playoff season for fall sports, always an exciting time for our scholar-athletes.  We wish all our teams the best of luck as they move ahead in a variety of challenging contests.  Please be sure to check the district website for playoff game schedules.

Wishing you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!

Sincerely,

Marie C. Cirasella

Marie C. Cirasella, Ed.D.
